Benefit fraudster from Castlecaulfield claimed over £50k he was not entitled to

A Castlecaulfied man has been convicted of benefit fraud after claiming £52,395 that he was not entitled to.

Patrick McGuckin, 53, of Parkanaur Road, Castlecaulfield was given a two-year prison sentence, suspended for three years at Dungannon Magistrates Court on Thursday, March 10.

The Department of Social Development reported that he had claimed Income Support, Employment and Support Allowance and Rates Relief totalling £52,395 while failing to declare capital.

McGuckin is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
