Council remembers NI peer Lord Ballyedmond
Carrickfergus Borough Council has paid tribute to Lord Ballyedmond, who died in a helicopter crash in Norfolk last month.
The Northern Ireland peer, who had previously provided advice to council and was a close friend of Chief Executive Sheila McClelland, was remembered at Monday night’s meeting of the local authority.
Councillor Jim McClurg said: “Lord Ballyedmond was the last person I hosted in the Parlour as Mayor; he was a self-made man, an industrialist and educationalist.
“He will be greatly missed by many people both at home and around the world.”
