Makyla makes history with Northern Ireland
Despite putting up a good show, the local girls were outplayed by a classy French outift, and were beaten 4-0 in the World Cup qualifier. And 19-year-old Makyla, who plays in midfield, was lucky enough to run out for the last 20 minutes of the game.
“Last night (Wednesday) was my fifth cap for the senior ladies team. It’s tough, it’s a big step up for me, but I’m loving it,” said Makyla.

“I’ve been up at Glentoran for a long time now, our new season starts this month, so we’re training hard for our first game.”
Makyla explained that many of the girls involved with Alfie Wylie’s International set up are in full time football in England: “Many of the girls play at Man City or Newcastle, and they are in full time football.
“I guess it’d be a dream come true to play football professionally, but I’m a bit of a home bird, I’m enjoying things with Glentoran at the minute, and that’s all that matters.”
Currently third in Group 1, Northern Ireland have a further six qualifying games against Estonia, Iceland, Serbia and Croatia.
