He stated: “The purpose of the Derry Retail Study was to provide an analysis of existing patterns in the City’s retail catchment.
“It is research, I commissioned from my officials to inform the decision making process and provide a consistent and up to date analysis, against which relevant applications within the study area could be properly assessed.”

Hide AdMr Attwood originally outlined the findings of a retail study in relation to Londonderry at the end of August.
Amongst the findings of the Londonderry Retail Study are: Retailers in the Derry area benefit from cross border trade. Of the areas surveyed in north and east Donegal, 44 per cent of respondents regularly carry out their main food shopping in the city.
A significant proportion of those surveyed in Strabane, who prefer to carry out their main food shop in the town were resident in Londonderry.
Shopper preferences are fairly evenly split between major existing food stores throughout the city.
