Cracking crowd in Carrickfergus for Christmas lights celebration
A heart-warming carol service took place in St Nicholas’ Church with a special performance from Uplift Performing Arts, which got everyone in the festive spirit.
There was a range of seasonal fun for all the family including Santa’s reindeer, mini ponies, children’s funfair rides, a marshmallow pit and street animation.

Hide AdA pop-up cinema (supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) kept the crowds entertained throughout the day.
Performances from local arts groups, Uplift Performing Arts and Studio 86 dancers, got the crowd warmed up and singing along before the big switch on by Councillor Cheryl Johnston, chair of council’s Direct Services Committee and the special guest, Santa Claus.
The programme finished with a spectacular fireworks display, which lit up the skies of the historic town.
Meanwhile, an array of mouth-watering artisan food and unique, locally produced arts and crafts will be on offer at the Christmas market in Carrickfergus on Saturday 14 December.
Whitehead’s Victorian Street Fair will take place on Saturday, November 30 with Greenisland set to shine on December 5.
